Council Meetings
Responsibility for the work of the Council is split between Full Council and 4 Committees – Environment, Youth, Planning and Town Hall & Finance. In addition to Committees, working groups can be created as and when required to discuss, manage and deliver specific projects. We currently have one working group – the ‘Active Travel Working Group‘.
Committee Structure
The Town Council conducts the majority of business through these Committees and meet on a regular basis throughout the year. All Council and Committee meetings are open to the public who may speak for up to three minutes per person at meetings. The agendas and minutes of meetings are published on this website.
Full Council
Full Council meets monthly and sets the precept (local Town Council tax) for the year. It deals with any matters not delegated to a committee or sub committee, and agrees policy and considers reports referred by committees and working groups. All Councillors are to attend the monthly meetings and the Chair is Cllr Martin Tinkler.

Environment Committee
The Environment Committee meets quarterly to champion environmental issues in our Town and to manage the land (allotments, cemeteries etc), and the parks and open spaces we cares for.

Planning Committee
The Planning Committee meets every 3 weeks to consider every planning application in the town and comments are sent to Teignbridge District Council as part of their consultation procedure. This Group is not a decision maker on planning matters but is a consultee. The aim is to preserve and enhance the town’s character, and to encourage sustainability. Objection and support correspondence regarding any applications should be sent directly to TDC who make all decisions in this area.

Town Hall & Finance Committee
The Town Hall & Finance committee manages the day-to-day running of the Council. Chudleigh Town Council is open and transparent in all its financial activities and ensures financial management is adequate, effective and has a sound system of internal control. The annual budget for the following year is discussed by Councillors and receives final approval at the January council meeting.
