Chudleigh town council pledges against hate

Chudleigh Town Council, working with Chudleigh Against Racism and Devon and Cornwall police’s ‘zero tolerance to hate crime’ initiative, resolved to adopt an anti-hate pledge for the town at the meeting of the full council in April 2022. The pledge was formally launched at the Chudleigh Respect Event in October 2022.

The pledge group aims to encourage businesses and residents to show solidarity in the town against hate-incidents and increase the awareness of how to address such events when witnessed in the town, by signing up to the pledge.

A number of councillors have undergone ‘bystander training’, and teachers at Chudleigh primary school will undertake the same in spring 2023.

Businesses and individuals can pledge against hate as a Chudleigh resident or business by downloading, signing and displaying the Pledge Poster in your window or on your website.

Signees of the pledge so far include:

·        Chudleigh Town Council

·        Chudleigh C of E primary school

Have you signed the pledge and would you like your business featured on this page? Please get in touch with the council at clerk@chudleigh-tc.gov.uk.
