National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads. This is to let you know we will shortly be carrying out essential resurfacing works on the A38 from M5 junction 31 to Splatford split.

The work will start on the evening of Sunday 30 July and finish on the morning of Wednesday 16 August and will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am, Sunday to Thursday nights only.

To minimise disruption, we’ll work during the night only when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day we will keep the road open as usual. The work is currently programmed as follows:

Monday 30 July to Wednesday 2 August and Tuesday 15 August – westbound overnight closure from M5 junction 31 to Kennford for 4 nights from 8pm until 6am the following morning. Traffic wishing to travel west will instead use the M5 junction 31 to join the A30 towards Matford, then taking the A379 westbound to re-join the A38.
Sunday 6 August – westbound overnight closure of the A38 at Wobbly Wheel junction for Kenn and Kennford for 1 night from 8pm until 6am. Traffic travelling west will exit and re-join the A38 at Wobbly Wheel junction for Kenn.
Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 August – westbound overnight closure of the A38 at Splatford Split for 3 nights from 8pm until 6am. Traffic wishing to travel westbound will instead take the A380 to Ware Barton junction, then the A382 to re-join the A38.

All diversion routes will be fully signed during the full overnight closures, but please allow extra time for your journey.

We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes. Please monitor www.trafficengland.com to keep updated.
